SI married a widow after getting bail in a rape case.

 

Stuff Reporter: Sub-Inspector of Police (SI) Abdul Jalil, 45, who went to jail in a rape case filed by a widow in Panchagarh, got married to the woman on bail.

Plaintiff's lawyer Mehedi Hasan Milon confirmed the information on Thursday (March 24) morning. 
Earlier on Wednesday (March 23), Abdul Jalil married the woman on the second floor of the Panchagarh District Bar Association building at a price of  7 lakhs 95 thousands tk.
However, when Abdul Jalil applied for bail at the Panchagarh Women and Child Abuse Suppression Tribunal, the tribunal's judge Mehedi Hasan Talukder granted bail on condition that he marry the plaintiff.

 The accused is Abdul Jalil, son of Shukur Ali of Uttar Phulia area of ​​Gaibandha Sadar upazila. 

He is working in Kurigram Sadar Police Station. 

Earlier, he was working in Panchagarh Sadar Police Station. 

According to the case sources, the victim filed a general diary with the Panchagarh Sadar Police Station on April 30, 2020 over a dispute with her deceased husband's brother over the boundaries of the house. 

Abdul Jalil was in charge of the investigation. 

He had contact with the victim at different times. 

He also offered various proposals showing the temptation of marriage. 

At one stage, on the night of October 6 of the same year, he entered the house and raped her. 

He was later caught there. 

At that time, Abdul Jalil assured the victim that he would marry her. 

Later, he called two of his acquaintances and arranged a fake marriage drama.

Meanwhile, the court issued an arrest warrant against Abdul Jalil on January 23 after taking cognizance of the case filed by the victim. 

Jalil was later granted a six-week bail by the high court. 

The court sent her to jail on Sunday (March 20th) seeking permanent bail from the Panchagarh Women and Child Abuse Suppression Tribunal as her temporary bail expired.

The victim said that while working in Panchagarh, Abdul Jalil recognized me as his wife but he was delaying to show the marriage papers. 

After showing various excuses, he took a change. 

When contacted, he said he would come to Panchagarh court on October 7 to testify and would take me to his house on the same day. 

He also came on the 7th and spent the night at my house. 

But the next day he did not meet with me in court. 

When contacted on the phone, he confessed to raping her by talking about false marriage and made various threats.

"I came to the court to get justice," he said. 

I have received justice. 

I am grateful to the court for this. 

Plaintiff's lawyer Mehedi Hasan Milon said the victim woman had come to the court to get recognition as Jalil's wife. 

The court gave a fair trial. 

We are satisfied with the court.
